This news and many such are going round on social media especially WhatsApp.
The way this "supposed" news is framed is blatantly malicious. A positive news is converted into a negative with subconscious anti modi messaging. Propagators of such news depend upon the innate gullibility of the reader. Anything we see or read in print or writing, we subconsciously accept as true. This goes for nearly everyone.
This attitude finds its origins in the darkness of lost histories of man's evolution into a sapient being. The origin of the written word is still shrouded in darkness. Words were a mystery which only few could master. Words were magical, wondrous and mystical. Those who mastered them were shamans, magicians and scholars. Even royalty was many a times, bereft of mastery of written word. The rare few who had mastered the written words were treated with reverence and the common people deferred to their wisdoms.
These attitudes have since many millennia, across time, become so ingrained into our collective psyche that we, the common folk, accept the written words as gospel truth. Not once do we use our own deductive abilities to evaluate the veracity of the "words".
We allow the ones with the gift of words, to tell us what and how to think. This "outsourcing" of thinking, is what allows the Presstitutes to manipulate a society's intellectual discourse. The Presstitutes use their mastery of the "word", to mold public sentiments, influence policy & manipulate social networks to their advantage.
Now coming back to the above message - the intent of such manipulated news is manifold.
In one fell swoop it :-
- brands the RW call for boycott of Chinese goods as Hypocrisy,
- puts a question mark on the government policy to get more FDI into the nation and
- encourages people to continue using Chinese goods.
After all its ok to buy cheap Chinese "maal" and save a few bucks.... GOI also "buys" Chinese and not Indian.
Now let me put the above news into perspective -
Importing, selling & buying cheap Chinese "jhalar" is simple Trading. It's a monetary transaction where the buyer exchanges his money for a cheap Chinese knockoff. The money goes directly into the Chinese coffers and enriches their industry while we are stuck with a cheap jhalar that doesn't last even a few days.
BUT
An Investment brings in money, creates national assets, provides employment & most importantly it gives us a leverage over China. Every dollar, renminbi or rupee that China invests into India, gives us one more leverage over them. In event of spiraling tensions, these investments are a red line that China, will NOT cross. We can always seize, freeze or confiscate these assets.
I hope I was able to show, you the reader, how words can be used to make a virtue look like a vice and a sinner like a saint.
So please evaluate whatever you read on the anvil of your intellect and logic and make up your own mind. Don't let jugglery of words make up your mind for you.
